Rosy picture for 2010 venues, finances and sponsors 2010 Games: "With 2007 closing behind them, the organizers of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics said Tuesday they'd achieved or exceeded all of their goals, from completing key sporting venues to unveiling a trio of popular mascots to building on an already strong financial foundation.
In what has become a pro forma performance every three months, Vanoc on Tuesday released yet another rosy picture of the latest quarterly financial results. But this time, there was an added bonus: Vanoc's efforts to shake the corporate money tree had raised $37.5 million more than it had projected for 2007.
At a time when the Canadian dollar was bursting through the roof -- presenting its own set of unique challenges for Vanoc -- the organizing committee blew through a target this year of signing $65 million in corporate sponsorships."
