Trinidad and Tobago's Newsday : newsday.co.tt :: "MEMBERS of the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee (TTOC) will attend the Legacy Lives 2008 conference in Barbados, scheduled for January 28-30.

And it is expected to be of huge assistance to the twin-island republic when it is host to the National Olympic Committee (NOC) Caribbean Games in 2009 and other major international tournaments.

The high profile conference will bring together some of the leading figures in the world of sport at one venue. A release yesterday quoted legacylives2008.com as saying that the conference has been designed to cater specifically for the major sporting event and for the sports tourism market. The conference will comprise interactive workshops and an exhibition which are tailored to meet the needs of cities that are considering bidding for major events in the future.

It also caters for bidding cities, candidate cities and host cities before major competitions are held.

The conference will also provide valuable advice on how cities, LOCs and Governments can raise their profile, maximise the economic impact and related benefits from the bidding process as well as from the delivery of the event. Only recently TTOC president Larry Romany also announced that the TT Olympic Committee is considering making a bid to stage the 2018 Commonwealth Games for the first time on local shores and the legacy live2008 programme will again be useful.
