Women push for equal access to ski jumping in 2010 Olympics

Women push for equal access to ski jumping in 2010 Olympics: "Canada could become the first country to hold fully gender-equal Winter Olympic Games if it can convince the International Olympic Committee to change its mind and allow women ski jumpers to participate in 2010, the head of the U.S. women's ski jumping team said Friday.

Deedee Corradini of Women's Ski Jumping USA used the backdrop of the Canadian Junior Ski Jumping Championships at the newly-finished ski jumps in Whistler Olympic Park to ask the Vancouver 2010 organizing committee to pressure the IOC to open the Games to women jumpers.

'We feel the women jumpers world wide are ready for this,' she said in a telephone interview before leaving Salt Lake to hold a press conference at Vanoc's new jumps. 'Vancouver 2010 has an opportunity to be the first Olympic Winter Games to have total gender equity.'"
